Durability of a dental prosthesis
The durability of a denture is individually variable. Depending on the chewing load and the crunching and pressing behaviour of the patient, the plastic teeth wear out faster or slower and have to be replaced accordingly. If the patient loses a lot of weight quickly, the upper jaw bone and soft tissues also reduce.The prosthesis may no longer fit, so a new one must be fabricated. Usually the durability of a prosthesis can last for 10 to 20 years, but it must be relined occasionally to ensure the hold.
