Duration

The duration of a newborn infection varies. In the beginning there is the clinical suspicion. In-patient monitoring takes place, in some cases even in the intensive care unit.

The focus is on stabilizing the circulation and eliminating possible pathogens as far as possible. The total duration then depends on the further development. If the monitoring and diagnostics are inconspicuous, the disease is usually overcome within a few days. If abnormalities are detected in the laboratory and the pathogen is detected, the progression can take up to 10 days or longer.
