Occasional eye twitching is completely harmless and is due to simple overexertion of the eyes or tiredness. In most cases, the twitching does not last very long.Often the annoying fluttering of the eyelids disappears after a few minutes or at the latest one or two days. It is more problematic if the twitching of the eye muscles is due to damage to the brain. Then it is possible that the eye twitching persists over a longer period of time or, in the worst case, that it remains.
