Ethyl Nicotinate

Ethyl nicotinate (C8H9NO2, Mr = 151.2 g/mol) is the ethyl ester of nicotinic acid.

Effects

Ethyl nicotinate is a circulatory stimulant, skin irritant, and warming agent.

Indications

In combination:

  • Rheumatic complaints, soft tissue rheumatism.
  • Painful, inflammatory, degenerative diseases of the musculoskeletal system, muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, spine or intervertebral discs.
  • Muscle tension, movement pain, lumbago, stiff neck, sciatica.

Dosage

Hands should be washed well after use.

Contraindications

Ethyl nicotinate is contraindicated in hypersensitivity, infants and young children. It should not be brought into contact with mucous membranes, eyes, lips open wounds or with irritated skin. Do not use on large areas or for long periods of time. Refer to the drug label for complete precautions.

Interactions

Do not combine with similar liniments.
