Facelift

During the aging process, more or less pronounced skin irregularities and wrinkles develop in the area of the face and neck. These normal signs of aging can have an enormous influence on the external appearance of a person and thus significantly reduce the sense of well-being. The reason for the appearance of skin unevenness and wrinkles is a progressive loss of skin elasticity and a slackening of the subcutaneous fatty tissue.

A so-called facelift can help the affected person and give the skin a younger appearance. A face lift is a plastic and aesthetic procedure from the field of cosmetic surgery. During the surgical procedure, the skin of the face can be re-modulated and smoothed.

The aim of face lifting is not only to tighten the facial skin, but also to smooth the underlying subcutaneous tissue. Patients who decide to have a facelift are mostly elderly patients who want to achieve a higher skin tension and thus a younger appearance. Although the individual techniques of facelifting have been optimized over the years, the classic facelift is not a new method.

The first medical facelift was documented in the early 20th century. In the meantime, facelifts have become one of the most common surgical procedures performed in the field of plastic and aesthetic surgery. Although this fact basically speaks for extensive experience in this field of surgery, the performance of a facelift should be thoroughly thought through by both the patient and the performing specialist.

A facelift is a purely aesthetic operation that has no medical indication (necessity). However, the possible side effects and complications of a facelift can have far-reaching consequences. Furthermore, anyone who decides to undergo a facelift should be aware that this operation is not covered by the health insurance.

Therefore, the costs incurred during the procedure are not covered by either the statutory or private health insurance companies. Furthermore, the ordinary health insurance does not cover the treatment of possible consequences of the operation. If necessary, the patient has to pay all the costs incurred himself.
