Farsightedness (Hyperopia): Medical History

Medical history (history of the patient) represents an important component in the diagnosis of hyperopia (farsightedness).

Family history

  • Is there a frequent history of eye disease in your family?

Social anamnesis

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • Do you find it difficult to see objects in focus that are close by, that you can see well in the distance?
  • How long has this symptom been present? Did it come on suddenly?
  • Has the symptomatology intensified?
  • Does it affect both eyes?
  • Do you have pain in the eye? Headache?
  • Do your eyes tire quickly?
  • Do their eyes burn frequently?
  • Do you suffer from inflammation of the conjunctiva?
  • Have you noticed an inward squint?
  • Do you already wear glasses or contact lenses?
