Febrile Seizure: Therapy General measures Keep calm Notice time onset of seizure (a simple febrile seizure usually lasts only a few minutes) Loosen the child’s clothes, lay him upright if possible, so that he can breathe easily. Protect the child from injury (remove dangerous objects from the environment, etc.). If the child vomits, it should be placed on its side so that the vomit does not enter the lungs. Do not put a wedge in the mouth. Do not instill food/liquid. After an unexplained seizure, the child should be placed on the abdomen or in a stable lateral position with arms bent headward. In doing so, the head should be turned to the side and slightly backward. Notify rescue service
