General measures
- Concomitant measures in addition to drug treatment:
- Crabs and nits should be fought out moist with a nit comb.
- In case of infestation of the eyebrows or eyelashes, crabs and nits should be removed with tweezers.
- If necessary, shave the hair; this can facilitate the treatment.
- Partner management, i.e., infected partners, if any, must be located and treated (contacts must be traced for 3 months).
- If necessary, the sex partner should be included in the treatment.
- Bed linen, towels, etc. should be washed at 60 ° C, thereby lice and nits are killed.
- If washing at 60 ° C is not possible, the laundry should be stored either in a tight plastic bag at circa 20 ° C for at least four weeks.
- Kill the lice is also possible in the freezer (at least one day).
