Once the acute necrotizing ulcerative periodontitis has been overcome, it is important to continue to perform oral hygiene carefully in order to prevent a recurrence of the inflammation. Close monitoring by the dentist is also important. Complete healing can be achieved by eliminating the causative factors.
The duration of treatment depends on the extent and severity of the inflammation and varies from patient to patient. In most cases, however, there is a rapid improvement after the first removal of the germs.
