Hallux Rigidus – Exercise 1

Traction: With this exercise you can mobilize your big toe joint independently. To do this, grip close to the joint, i.e. just below the joint with one hand and just above the joint with the other hand. Fix the metatarsal bone of the big toe with your lower hand.

Now pull the joint surfaces slightly apart. This pulling will cause the painfully changed joint surfaces to be released from each other minimally. Under this light pull the toe can be moved up and down.

The movement should fall slightly and not be painful. Perform 20 repetitions. Continue with the next exercise.
