From mosquito bites to wasp stings: home remedies that help
Another popular home remedy for insect bites are cold compresses with vinegar water (one part vinegar to two parts water). They have an anti-inflammatory effect and relieve itching.
Other popular home remedies for mosquito bites, bee stings and the like are lemon juice, cucumber slices and sliced onions, which are rubbed into the puncture site. They cool and soothe the itching (for example, in the case of a mosquito bite).
Home remedies for insect bites in the mouth
An insect bite in the mouth and throat can be life-threatening: When the mucous membrane swells, breathing becomes more difficult. So do not leave the affected person alone and try to calm him down. You can provide ice or ice cubes to suck on. This can reduce the swelling in the throat. Cooling the throat from the outside, for example with cold compresses, can also be useful.
Preventive home remedies for insect bites
Home remedies help not only in the treatment of insect bites. Mosquito bites, bee stings and other insect bites can even often be prevented with some home remedies:
- Certain plants such as tomato plants (be careful poisonous!) or frankincense repel insects.
- Clove, lavender and lemon oils contain fragrances that repel insects. You can use them as lotions, candles or scented oils.
Home remedies are not a panacea!
Home remedies against insect bites are sufficient in many cases as treatment of the unpleasant symptoms. However, in case of insect venom allergy or inflamed insect bites, you should see a doctor. This also applies to insect bites in the mouth and throat!
