Home Remedies for Pimples

Pimples on the face or generally impure skin disturb the external appearance of a person enormously. Especially teenagers are often plagued by acne and pimples. With some home remedies and a little discipline in the application, however, almost everyone can achieve a clean skin.

What helps against pimples and acne?

Chamomile or tea tree oil are natural home remedies to stop pimples. In the case of very severe acne, it should first be clarified with a dermatologist whether there are medical causes for the pimples, which must be specifically combated. Furthermore, it should be noted that every skin has its own needs that must be taken into account. Dry skin must be regularly cared for with moisturizing lotions or creams so that its own protection can effectively prevent the penetration of bacteria. In the case of oily skin, a peeling can help, with which the openings of the sebaceous glands are freed from skin flakes and dried sebum. In this way, new sebum can flow off better and blackheads, which can become inflamed, do not form in the first place. If pimples keep appearing despite good care, a targeted treatment of the facial skin becomes useful. A steam bath with chamomile opens the pores and disinfects the skin. For this purpose, a strong chamomile tea is infused and placed in an open pot. For about ten minutes, the rising steam should act on the face. For this purpose, it is best to hold the head over the pot and cover it with a towel. Following this steam bath, the usual care appropriate to the skin type is carried out. With the care products should be paid attention to as natural as possible compositions. Other cleansing products such as shampoo and shower gel should also be adapted to the sensitivity of the facial skin. A baby shampoo without perfuming or preserving additives is often better tolerated than other products. In the case of inflammatory pimples, treatment with the patient’s own urine can also be helpful. For this, the first urine is collected in the morning and carefully applied to the face with a cotton pad. The urea present in urine has a positive effect on the skin’s appearance, which is precisely why this substance is also present in most ointments against pimples. After a longer exposure time, the facial cleansing appropriate to the skin type can be carried out.

Quick help

The advice mentioned so far helps slowly but sustainably. Depending on how pronounced the problem was, the improvement can be observed after a few days or only after a few weeks. However, one does not always have the opportunity to wait so long for improvement. In these situations it is important not to press on the pimple. In this way, the impurities are often only pushed deeper into the skin, where they lead to inflammation in the first place. In the case of blackheads and similar impurities, it is therefore better to refrain from quick help. The spots can usually be covered very well with a high-quality powder or make-up, so that there is no longer any optical impairment. So that the skin is not too stressed by the covering, care should be taken in the evening to cleanse the skin carefully and appropriately for the skin type. With an additional peeling, the removal of unsightly sebum residues from the pores is facilitated.

Alternative remedies

Raised pimples, which can not be concealed with makeup, can be dabbed with a drop of tea tree oil. This has an antibacterial effect and dries out the pimple. It will not be enough to make the pimple disappear completely. However, a high-quality concealer is sufficient afterwards to show off a clear complexion. It is best to use a fresh cotton swab to apply tea tree oil and concealer. This can prevent further bacteria from aggravating the inflammation of the pimple. For acutely inflamed pimples, zinc ointment, which is applied directly to the affected area, also helps. The zinc acts directly against the inflammation and at the same time moisture is removed from the pimple. However, it is not advisable to apply this ointment over a large area. Toothpaste should not be used if possible. Although it can successfully dry out a single pimple, it often results in an even worse skin condition.
