Homeopathy
There are several homeopathic remedies that promise to relieve certain PMS symptoms. Thus the dog’s milk globules are recommended by homeopaths for breast tenderness, cyclamen for headaches and to lighten the mood, globules from grape silver candles are said to be particularly good remedies. The globules should be taken several times a day. However, there is no scientific proof of the effectiveness of the above-mentioned globules, as is the case with many other homeopathic preparations.
Schüssler salts
Among the Schüssler salts that can be used for PMS symptoms is magnesium phosphoricum. It is said to help against the cramping pain. Ferrum phosphoricum, calcium phosphoricum and potassium phosphoricum are also widely used.
They are best taken as a preventive measure. Calcium phosphoricum is said to have a strengthening effect on the nerves. Ferrum phosphoricum and potassium phosphoricum are said to have a positive effect on the iron balance and blood formation.
What should you avoid?
Women who suffer from premenstrual syndrome are recommended to refrain from smoking. Coffee and alcohol should also be avoided in the best case.Furthermore, a low-salt diet can also be respected – therefore salty food should be avoided at best. The changes in diet are only recommendations, which are mainly based on reports of experiences of people affected. The effectiveness of these measures has not yet been proven by scientific studies.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture promises a good effect on premenstrual symptoms. In addition to relieving pain, acupuncture is also intended to activate the body’s self-healing power. However, there are no studies on acupuncture for PMS symptoms that prove its effectiveness. However, some women report a positive effect on their PMS symptoms and see a significant difference or improvement in their PMS symptoms as a result of acupuncture treatment.
