There are now also dentists who use homeopathy in addition to classical therapy. However, homeopathy cannot replace the classical treatment method. In naturopathy, there can be very different treatment methods for one and the same problem.

Homeopathic medicines do not work for every patient and it is important to find the specific preparation for the individual problem that can help.Homoeopathy can be seen as a good thing that it treats the often weakened immune system of those affected at the same time. In the case of an inflammation of the tooth root, preparations from calendula are often used, but there is no scientific evidence whether apical periodontitis can be cured by treatment with this ingredient alone. As an additional supportive therapy besides the classical one, there is nothing wrong with homeopathy to also strengthen the immune system again.

Antibiotics

In case of pain at the root of the tooth, due to apical periodontitis, the dentist often prescribes an antibiotic to support the classical treatment. If the inflammation of the tooth root already takes on a purulent form and an abscess forms, this drug is almost always prescribed. An antibiotic is only effective against bacteria and can on the one hand prevent the bacteria from multiplying and on the other hand kill them directly, which depends on the subgroup of the antibiotic and its mode of action.

Against viruses and fungi the antibiotic is functionless. The antibiotic can fight the bacteria faster and is particularly useful for patients who already suffer from cardiovascular diseases, so that the bacteria below the root tip cannot enter the systemic circulation. Every dentist has to decide whether a classical therapy by trepanation and root canal treatment as well as filling is sufficient or a supporting antibiotic should be taken.

Not to forget that every antibiotic has side effects and these have to be considered. The antibiotic fights all bacteria, including the important intestinal bacteria Escherichia coli, which we need for digestion. From this result not rarely digesting problems and failure after antibiotic income.

Further it should be considered with the income that an antibiotic is taken also with entering freedom from complaints finished, in order to avoid possible resistance formation. A constant active substance level of the antibiotics in the blood is crucial to achieve an optimal therapy success. If the antibiotic is discontinued too early, the level of antibiotics in the blood drops rapidly and not all bacteria are completely eliminated.

When taking antibiotics it should be taken into account to take them very conscientiously. Frequently we prescribed the antibiotic preparation Amoxicillin, which is taken 3 times daily in the form of tablets with 1000mg each. The duration of the intake is variable, depending on how well the drug works.

The antibiotic should continue to be taken at least 2 days after pain relief. If the antibiotic is discontinued directly at the onset of pain relief, it is possible that not all strains of bacteria are killed and the remaining unicellular organisms develop resistance to the antibiotic. The duration and dose should always be discussed with a doctor.
