Low Blood Pressure (Hypotension): Drug Therapy

Therapeutic target

  • Prevention of syncope (brief loss of consciousness/circulatory collapse).

Therapy recommendations

  • If general measures do not provide sufficient symptom relief for the patient, sympathomimetics (drugs that potentiate the action of the sympathetic nervous system) may be administered. However, these should be used only for a limited time and in severe cases of hypotension.
