Optional medical device diagnostics – depending on the results of the history, physical examination, laboratory diagnostics, and obligatory medical device diagnostics – for differential diagnostic clarification.
- Computed tomography/magnetic resonance imaging of the skull (cranial CT or.cCT/cranial MRI or cMRI) – to exclude diseases of the brain such as tumors, hemorrhages.
- Electrocardiogram (ECG; recording of the electrical activity of the heart muscle) – for suspected cardiac involvement.
- Echocardiography (echo; heart ultrasound) – if myopericarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle and pericardium) is suspected.
- X-ray of the chest (X-ray thorax/chest), in two planes – if pneumonia (inflammation of the lungs) is suspected.
