Structure and properties
Adrafinil (C15H15NO3S, Mr = 289.3 g/mol) is a prodrug that is biotransformed in the body to modafinil. It exists as a white to pinkish-beige crystalline powder that is sparingly soluble in water.
Effects
Adrafinil (ATC N06BX17) stimulates, centrally promotes alertness and attention, and increases motor activity.
Indications
For the treatment of narcolepsy.
Abuse
Adrafinil keeps you awake and can be abused as a performance enhancer, smart drug, party drug, and doping agent. It is on the doping list.
