Miscarriage (Abortion): Symptoms, Complaints, Signs

The following symptoms and complaints may occur together with miscarriage (abortion), or threatened or incipient miscarriage:

Leading symptoms

  • Vaginal bleeding (bleeding from the vagina), cervical bleeding (bleeding from the cervix).
  • Contraction-like pain
  • Absence of fetal vital signs (signs of life).

Associated symptoms

  • Opening/shortening/softening of the cervical canal (cervical canal).
  • Back pain
  • Discharge of amniotic fluid
  • Stagnation of uterine growth – no growth of the uterus.
  • Fever and purulent discharge suggest an infectious complication (abortus febrilis)

Notice: During nidation (implantation of the early germ), vaginal (spotting) bleeding is clinically possible, which can reach the intensity of menstrual bleeding.
