Naftazone is commercially available in the form of film-coated tablets (Mediaven, Mediaven forte). It has been approved in many countries since 1973.

Effects

Naftazone (ATC C05B) increases venous tone and inhibits iysosomal enzymes in the vein wall.

Indications

  • All forms of venous insufficiency
  • Diabetic retinopathy

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity

Naftazone should be used with caution in severe hepatic insufficiency and impaired renal function. Full precautions can be found in the drug label.

Interactions

There are no known drug-drug interactions.

Adverse effects

Possible adverse effects include gastrointestinal discomfort, headache, dizziness, and skin reactions.
