Therapeutic targets

  • Alleviation of symptoms

Therapy recommendations

  • Symptomatic therapy (antipyretics/antipyretic drugs if necessary: suppositories, juice, or tablets).
  • The oral mucosa as well as the lips are treated locally with antiseptic, antiphlogistic (anti-inflammatory) as well as analgesic (analgesic) therapeutics. Also local anesthetic (“local anesthetic”) gels such as Dynexan and solutions such as Xylocaine viscous 2% solution can be used.
  • In moderate and severe cases, antivirals are used.
