Structure and properties
Oxilofrin (C10H15NO2, Mr = 181.2 g/mol) is present in drugs as oxilofrine hydrochloride and is also known as methylsynephrine. It is structurally related to ephedrine and is a derivative of epinephrine.
Effects
Oxilofrine (ATC C01CA) has blood pressure-increasing and positive inotropic properties. The effects are due to binding to alpha and beta adrenoceptors. This decreases venous capacitance, increases peripheral resistance, and improves cardiac output.
Indications
For the treatment of low blood pressure and circulatory disorders of various causes.
Dosage

Oxilofrine can be abused as a doping agent and stimulant due to its stimulant and anabolic properties.
