Passion Flower: Effect and Side Effects

The mode of action of passionflower extracts is insufficiently researched clinically. It is possible that ingredients of the plant bind centrally and peripherally to specific receptors (GABA-A receptors), through which a sedative effect is mediated. In animal experiments, the calming and anxiety-relieving effects have been demonstrated.
