In case of elbow arthrosis, the most important goal of physiotherapeutic treatment is to relieve the patient’s pain. Physiotherapy for elbow arthrosis also ensures that the joint is mobilized and strengthened so that important metabolic processes are reactivated and self-healing processes are stimulated. The therapeutic measures of physiotherapy for elbow arthrosis range from massage techniques, heat, cold and electrical applications, specific exercises to relaxation measures. How the individual physiotherapeutic plan is designed depends on the individual patient.

The therapy for elbow arthrosis always depends on the extent and severity of the arthrosis and the stage of the disease. The patient’s age and individual medical history also play an important role in deciding on further treatment. Exercises
Exercise: Sit down at a table and place your forearms on the table top. The upper arms remain close to the body and the arms are bent 90° at the elbow joint. Now turn your palms upwards and back towards the table.
20 repetitions. Exercise: Sit straight and upright on a chair. Arms hang down beside the body, palms pointing towards each other.
Now raise your arms at an angle. The upper arms remain on the body and the palms of the hands continue to point towards each other. Then lower the arms back down into the extension.
20 repetitions. Exercise: Stand with your face against a wall. Extend the affected arm to the side and push a fascial roller between the wall and the arm.
Now slowly start rolling from wrist up to elbow. The exercise should be done very slowly, so that about 5cm is covered in one minute. Exercise: Angle the arm so that the palm of the hand is facing inwards.
Now turn the palm upwards and press the arm down with the other hand. Hold the other arm against it so that you feel a tension in your forearm. Hold this for 10 seconds.
