Quincke’s Edema: Examination

A comprehensive clinical examination is the basis for selecting further diagnostic steps:

  • General physical examination – including blood pressure, pulse, body weight, height; further:
    • Inspection (viewing).
      • Skin, mucous membranes and eyes [recurrent swelling of: Lips, eyelids, tongue, face, larynx (voice box), extremities, genitals]
    • Auscultation (listening) of the heart.
    • Auscultation of the lungs
    • Palpation (palpation) of the abdomen (abdominal) (tenderness?, knocking pain?, coughing pain?, guarding tension?, hernial orifices?, renal bearing knocking pain?) [Abdominal discomfort/abdominal cramps.]
  • Cancer screening [due topossible cause: malignant lymphoma (malignant neoplasm of the lymphatic system)]
  • If necessary, gynecological examination [due topossible causes:
    • Menstruation (menstruation)
    • Ovulation (ovulation)
    • Pregnancy]
  • Health check
