Reasons for a larger inner labia
As already mentioned, the reason for the differences in size lies in the great variability of the intimate area itself. Every vulva looks different, not only the size of the labia but also, for example, the shape of the clitoral hood. A stronger expression of the labia minora is therefore simply due to genetic predisposition and has no disease value.
The differences in size are probably mainly due to the hormonal influence. While estrogens promote the growth of the labia minora, androgens ensure the growth of the labia majora. If one speaks of enlarged labia minora (also called labial hypertrophy), there are no absolute measures of the extent to which this is the case.
An objective medical determination of the size of the labia hypertrophy is therefore impossible. However, an enlargement of the labia minora can also occur only in the course of life. This phenomenon is due to the aging process.
With increasing age, a decrease of elastin, collagen, protein and hyaluron in the skin begins. The percentage of fatty tissue in the skin also decreases. Due to the decrease in collagen, the skin appears less smooth and firm. The slackening connective tissue manifests itself not only in the form of wrinkles on the face or décolleté, but also in a “slackened” and thus enlarged inner labia.
Pain on the inner labia
The most common reason for a surgical reduction of the labia minora is for aesthetic reasons. Nevertheless, in rare cases, functional impairments may occur if the labia minora or the clitoral hood protrudes. The lack of coverage of the labia minora by the labia majora means that the labia minora is insufficiently protected from mechanical stress and pressure. This can lead to the following problems: Impairments with .
- Sports and leisure activities
- Wearing tight clothes
- Micturition and sexual intercourse
What can you do against a larger inner labia?
If your motives are of a purely aesthetic nature, the first thing to do is to ask yourself whether you need to change.Clearly, every person should be free to decide how his or her idea of aesthetics and, accordingly, how his or her own body should look. The intimate area is of course a special feature, because unlike, for example, hip fat, nothing can be changed here by your own efforts. An actual optical change can only be achieved by a surgical intervention.
It should not be forgotten that this procedure can involve risks and is not cheap either. So before you decide to have surgery in the genital area, you should be aware that there is no standard for the genital area. As in all other areas of aesthetics, it is and remains a matter of taste. Several studies have shown that women more often prefer smaller labia minora, while men find both smaller and larger labia equally erotic. In a world of striving for perfection, not losing one’s self-love is difficult but immensely important.
