Structure and properties
Reserpine (C33H40N2O9, Mr = 609 g/mol) exists as a crystalline powder or as small, white to faint yellow crystals that slowly darken under the influence of light. The substance is practically insoluble in water.
Effects
Reserpine (ATC C02AA02) has sympatholytic, antihypertensive, vasodilator, and central sedative properties.
