Speed training in martial arts

In martial arts, speed can make the difference between victory and defeat. The fighter who can execute and place his attacks faster will most likely win the fight. Particularly with punches, kicks and turns, speed plays a superior role. Fast attacks are harder to fend off and have a stronger effect when a hit is scored.

Speed training in athletics

In athletics, there are sports that depend more on speed than others. The sprint, jumping and throwing disciplines are more dependent on speed than, for example, a marathon. In the sprint and jumping disciplines, speed is crucial for the athlete’s performance.

Speed training for boxing

Boxing is similar to martial arts. Dodging and hitting are the most important movements in boxing. The footwork on which a flexible fast defense is built is strongly based on speed. Rope jumps are very often seen by boxers as endurance training, for coordination, but also for speed of movement and reaction. Speed training in boxing takes place on punching machines and in sparring, where other important abilities and skills of the boxer are directly trained in addition to speed.

Explosive strength is one of the three forms of strength between which researchers and athletes distinguish. In addition to explosive strength, maximum strength and strength endurance are also included. Explosive strength is the ability to accelerate a body or object to maximum speed in a minimum of time. It occurs in virtually all movements and is therefore a basis for human movement and sports.
