A thought is quite generally called the Entsinnen of an opinion or a view. But also desires, ideas and ideas arise from thoughts. Thought is the product of the human thought process and may take the form of a judgment or concept.
What is a thought?
Thought is the product of the human thought process and can occur in the form of a judgment or concept. Thoughts can occur as conscious thought operations. For this reason, cognitive psychology is particularly concerned with this form of thoughts. In this case, they are consciously controlled mental actions that work towards a certain result. Modern logic, on the other hand, deals with the objective meaning of thoughts. In the case of thoughts, a distinction must be made between subjective and objective. The subjective sense of a thought means its origin and the grasping of the thought. Its objective sense deals with the validity of the thought. In the Enlightenment, thought was used to refer only to the activity of understanding, whereas in earlier times the term had a wider range of meanings. To this day, thought primarily refers to the thought process and its eventual outcome. Whether a thought is credible or correct or valid is often not to be determined from its utterance. In order to bring this into experience, the facts must be examined. Thoughts must be divided accordingly into origin (genesis) and validity. Closely connected with the subject is the consciousness and the perception of thoughts. They originate by brooding and are often disordered in the human head. The presentation of thoughts therefore takes place in written, linguistic or pictorial form. Daydreaming often leads to the articulation of thought processes. Detectable thoughts are electromagnetic waves that form patterns in the mind. Thoughts deepen through their repetition. In the most widespread sense, thoughts are one’s will, conditioned by the subconscious mind. They can be seen as reactions to external or internal stimuli and impulses. Thoughts are considered to be of great importance, since they not only have a significant influence on the person per se, but also on his ability to act. Thus, they are also decision-making for the environment.
Function and task
In the field of teleosemantics (philosophy of biology and mind), thought is distinguished by its meaning. Thoughts are – simplified spoken – responsible for influencing or triggering decisions. Without the freedom of thought, man would be primarily instinct-driven. Thoughts therefore enable man to act freely and thus ensure the further development of man and culture as well as his entire environment. Thoughts are what lead to inventions and decisions and are largely responsible for the acceleration of life. Ideas and thoughts thus lead not only to technical innovations, but also to the general raising of standards. The human being strives for perfection and constantly further knowledge. Thoughts are significantly involved in this process and can be called its basis. On the other hand, thoughts are responsible for representing something. Humans are ahead of animals in this step, since they can represent for example dangerous situations and deal with them more variously than other living beings. Thoughts are furthermore what drive humans and at the same time, for relief, have led to the need for distraction. Strong concentration on the other hand provides for the concentration of the senses on a single point. Each person is differently capable of articulating or visualizing thoughts and thus giving them a concrete form. It is often the case that creative people are less able to direct and form thoughts on a single point. In contrast, logical and mathematically inclined minds tend to be better at directing thoughts to a point and being able to work with them.
Diseases and ailments
Thought is closely related to concentration, mindfulness and alertness. There are interactions between these processes. Thoughts can be as positive as they can be negative, and with their connection to the thought process, they are closely related to rumination. This brooding, in turn, is said to have a partly harmful influence on the human psyche, because thoughts can also lead to mental illnesses.Dysphoric thoughts are sometimes closely related to depression. Moreover, thoughts can be the driving force for forbidden actions. Due to the close connection between thoughts and feelings, it is often difficult to objectively consider the decision for an action and consequently to refer to it again. Decisions and ideas once made are often difficult to discard. Thus, people who brood a lot are even more susceptible to actions whose consequences they can no longer consider neutrally. Incidentally, the quality of thoughts once they have been conceived depends on the trigger of the thought process. If this trigger is also the driving force for emotional reactions, the decision made is all the less valid and also all the more emotionally charged. Thoughts in themselves are not punishable, but the action that may result from them is.
