  • If the cause of TIA is atherosclerosis (arteriosclerosis, hardening of the arteries) of the carotid artery, it should be repaired by TEA (thromboendarterectomy; peeling of the artery) or PTA (percutaneous transluminal angioplasty; widening of a narrowing with the aid of a catheter).
