Trichinae (Trichinellosis): Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of trichinellosis (trichinosis).

Family history

  • What is the general health status of your relatives?

Social history

  • What is your profession?
  • Are you a hunter?
  • Have you been abroad recently?

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • What symptoms have you noticed?
  • Do you suffer from abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea?
  • If so, what does the diarrhea look like? Bloody? Slimy?
  • Do you have a fever? If so, what is the temperature? Does the temperature fluctuate?
  • Do you suffer from muscle pain?
  • Have you noticed any skin changes?
  • Have you noticed any swelling, especially around the eyelids?
  • Do you suffer from dysphagia, difficulty breathing, coughing?

Vegetative anamnesis incl. nutritional anamnesis.

  • Have you recently consumed meat imported from abroad (especially raw products, such as raw sausage or raw ham)?

Self anamnesis incl. medication anamnesis
