White teeth through home remedies

Introduction

In numerous magazines and Internet portals, home remedies are discussed and advertised which, when used regularly, are said to lead to white teeth. It should be noted that some of these supposed miracle cures can cause severe damage to the tooth.

Home remedies that actually help

The so-called oil extraction is a method of whitening the teeth. Furthermore, the oil is one of the very successful natural accompanying therapies in the treatment of periodontitis or gum inflammation. Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory (= anti-inflammatory) properties are attributed to the oil.

It is best to take a tablespoon of coconut oil in the mouth in the morning on an empty stomach and begin to rinse it with the oil. You pull the oil through your teeth (= oil extraction) and keep it in motion for about 15 minutes. It is very important not to swallow the oil.

The oil then emulsifies into a whitish liquid which can then be discarded into a paper towel so as not to clog the drain. To eliminate the unpleasant taste, you can then clean your teeth. To avoid damaging the enamel, never mix the oil with baking powder or similar.

However, oil extraction itself is not dangerous for the enamel and can also care for the gums. Another household remedy for whitening teeth is turmeric. The turmeric root comes from the ginger family and is actually known for its yellow coloring of foods such as rice.

You can chew a piece of raw turmeric root for several minutes or make a paste with turmeric powder and water to brush your teeth with. Furthermore, turmeric is considered a remedy for inflammation and swelling of the mouth. Furthermore, it is said to have an antibacterial effect and subsequently improve dental health.

Home remedies that do not help

Lemon juice should never be used as a household remedy for teeth whitening! In many magazines lemon juice is considered a miracle cure for tooth discoloration. Brushing your teeth regularly with lemon juice is indeed a fairly effective way to whiten teeth color significantly.

When using this household remedy, however, it should be noted that lemon juice is a so-called natural acid which attacks the tooth surface, roughens it and leads to the formation of tiny dirt pockets. In the long run, this damaging influence can even lead to irreparable damage to the tooth enamel and some teeth may need to be filled with a dental filling for this reason. Baking powder is also in no case suitable as a household remedy for teeth whitening!

It is factually correct that baking powder can cause white teeth when used inside the oral cavity, but this is achieved by a grinding (abrasive) effect. Baking powder is nothing else than an excessive wear and tear of the tooth substance and has for this reason an extremely negative influence on the dental health. When used frequently, this abrasive effect, via the formation of micro cracks and artificially created dirt niches, even leads to new color particles being deposited much more easily.

As a result, discolorations even increase in the long run. Strawberries as a household remedy are also not suitable as a household remedy for teeth whitening! The fruit should be processed into a viscous paste before use and then applied to the tooth surface.

Similar to the use of lemons, the application of the strawberry paste also involves considerable risks. Both fruits contain so-called natural acids, which can have a negative effect on the structure of the tooth enamel. In addition, when cleaning teeth with strawberry paste, there is a risk that the small seeds of the fruit get under the gum line, settle there and can lead to the development of inflammatory processes. Furthermore, it should be noted that the strawberry itself has an enormous amount of color particles that can lead to new discolorations. I
