Summary | Fatigue fracture – therapy

Summary

A fatigue fracture can therefore occur in these and many other parts of the body. In most cases, the cause is overloading or incorrect loading of the bone. Due to the fact that a fatigue fracture develops slowly over a long period of time, it is sometimes difficult to detect it early.

The therapy for all forms of fatigue fracture consists first of a resting phase followed by a therapy to restore the ability to bear weight. If the affected person follows the prescribed rest and rehabilitation plan, an uncomplicated healing of the fatigue fracture can usually be expected. If there are other causes, such as malnutrition or a bone disease such as osteoporosis, it is important to treat these as well, so that a new fatigue fracture does not occur again.
