When do I have to go to the doctor?

The occurrence of eczema does not require going to the doctor every time. In some cases, eczema is only locally limited and temporary on the skin. An independent treatment with homeopathic preparations can be performed.

However, if there is no improvement or even deterioration, a doctor should then be consulted. If many, larger eczemas appear on several or special skin areas, such as the scalp, a medical examination is recommended. The doctor responsible for this is the dermatologist, the specialist for skin diseases.

Other alternative forms of therapy

For eczema, many different types of creams are available as alternative forms of treatment. These include, for example, a cream containing vitamin B12. This vitamin relieves itching because it has a positive effect on the nerves in the skin.

For example, vitamin B12 can be combined well with aloe vera or vegetable oils in a cream. Ointments containing urea can also be used for eczema. Alternatively, the ingredients evening primrose oil, cariospermum or calendula can also be used.

Another possible form of therapy is the use of probiotics. This supports the development of the immune system in the body, whereby inflammations and possible subsequent infections can be fought better. Here, probiotic preparations containing lactobacilli can be used.

Bifidobacteria are also suitable as probiotics for eczema. Another possible form of treatment is the use of medicinal plants. Here the brewer’s yeast, hops, mahonia bark or pansies are particularly suitable for eczema.

Which home remedies can help me?

Various household remedies can be used for eczema. The local application of different oils can lead to a relief of the eczema symptoms. Another well-tried household remedy, as it is used for eczema, is oatmeal.

These contain active ingredients that have an inhibiting effect on inflammatory processes in the skin. In this way, the immune system can be regulated and the itching can be relieved. To use the oatmeal, it must be soaked in water and then applied to the eczema.

Alternatively, the oatmeal can also be used for diarrhoea. Detailed information can be found in the article: Household remedy against eczema
