- Symptomatic therapy
- Antibiosis (antibiotic therapy).
- Indications:
- Acute bacterial sialadenitis
- Chronic recurrent sialadenitis of the submandibular gland during the acute interval
- Supportive curative to surgical intervention.
- Endocarditis (endocarditis)-prone patients, regardless of the severity of infection.
- Risk of exacerbation (significant worsening of symptoms) of a general disease.
- Impaired immune defenses (eg, cytostatic or systemic corticosteroid therapy, immunosuppression), regardless of the severity of infection.
- Postoperative persistent (continuing) inflammation despite adequate drainage (drainage of salivary fluid).
- Sialagoga (drugs that promote saliva production) – Via excitation of the parasympathetic nervous system, they lead to increased saliva production.
