The anamnesis (medical history) represents an important component in the diagnosis of Achilles tendon rupture (Achilles tendon tear).

- Are you active in sports? What sports do you practice?
Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).
- What symptoms have you noticed?
- How long have these symptoms been present?
- Do you remember a triggering moment? (direct, indirect exposure to force; bodily exertion).
- Can you stand on your toes? (loss of strength of the toe sinkers)
- Do you have any pain? If so:
- Where do you have pain?
- Is the pain radiating?
Vegetative anamnesis incl. nutritional anamnesis.
Own anamnesis incl. medication anamnesis
- Pre-existing conditions (metabolic diseases; bone, muscle, joint and connective tissue diseases).
- Surgeries (orthopedic, trauma surgery).
- Radiotherapy
- Allergies
Medication history
- Anabolic steroids
- Quinolones/fluoroquinolones/gyrase inhibitors (ciprofloxacin, moxifloxacin, nalidixic acid, norfloxacin, lomefloxacin, levofloxacin, ofloxacin).
- Immunosuppressants
- Previous intra- and paratendinous (“inside and around the tendon”) injections of glucocorticoids.
