- Good cooperation of the patient is necessary, regular control of the nail extension

- No change in distraction speed possible
- No shortening of the implant possible

- Premature bone healing
- Insufficient extension due to excessive pain
- Too fast extension (informing the patient, if necessary thigh cast)
- Absence of bone fracture healing
Final Information
In total, about 700 ISKD nails have been implanted so far (120 in Germany, 220 in Europe and about 460 in the USA). The total price per nail is about 9400 €, plus surgery and post-operative costs. Costs are covered by private health insurance companies, for patients with health insurance only after individual negotiation
