Contractubex®

Introduction

Contractubex® is one of the most effective and best-selling products in scar treatment. Contractubex® is available as a gel, for massaging in, or as an intensive patch, for overnight application, and is characterised by its very good effect and compatibility. Contractubex® can be used for various types of scars, such as surgical scars, scars after laser treatment, acne scars, burns or scalds, and stretch marks.

With its special complex of active ingredients, Contractubex® significantly reduces the visibility and size of scars, makes the skin softer and reduces or even eliminates unpleasant side effects such as tension, pain and itching. Scars are caused by an injury to the skin, for example by cuts, bruises, abrasions or burns. After the open wound is sealed with a blood clot, repair processes are induced in the skin, which lead to increased formation of inferior connective tissue that seals the wound.

This results in the formation of a scar. If the edges of the wound are smooth and well adapted, the skin grows together without any problems and usually only a thin, light line remains, which is hardly visible over time. However, very large wounds that diverge widely or wounds without smooth wound edges are problematic.

They heal more slowly and more complicated and often leave a wide, conspicuous and cosmetically disturbing scar. Some scars also do not close properly, become hard and begin to tighten. In the case of wound healing disorders, atrophic (sunken) scars can form because not enough connective tissue is formed, or hypertrophic scars where there is an overproduction of connective tissue.

The scar then looks like a bulge and rises above the skin level. The latter happens especially if the wound is not protected or if the wound becomes infected. Most problematic are the scar keloids, a benign proliferation of scar tissue that extends beyond the wound area and proliferates into healthy tissue.

Adolescents and young women are particularly affected here. Dark-skinned people also have an increased predisposition to keloid formation. To counteract such complications, the early application of Contractubex® is recommended, preferably directly after complete wound closure.

Active ingredients

Contractubex® contains three active ingredients that reinforce and complement each other in their effect. Heparin has an anti-inflammatory effect, loosens up the tissue and promotes blood circulation in old scar tissue. Allantoin promotes wound healing and helps against itching. The third active ingredient is an onion extract (Extractum cepae), which has anti-inflammatory, bactericidal, regeneration-promoting and anti-proliferative effects, which prevents the formation of excess scar tissue. The combination of all three active ingredients also ensures that the gel penetrates better into the deep layers of the skin where it achieves its most effective effect.
