Structure and properties
Aluminum sulfate (Al2(SO4)3 – x H2O) exists as colorless, lustrous crystals or as a crystalline mass. It dissolves readily in hot water.
Effects
Aluminum sulfate has antiseptic and astringent properties.
Fields of application
- Aluminum sulfate is a component of acetic-tartaric alumina solution, which is commercially available, among other things, in the form of a gel (formerly Euceta, now substitute products).
- Technical applications, for example, as a flocculant for water (eg swimming pool cleaning).
