Application | Contractubex®

Application

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, Contractubex® Scar Gel should be gently massaged into the scar tissue several times a day. For fresh scars, the gel should be gently massaged into the scar tissue. Extreme cold or exposure to UV light should be avoided.

For older, hardened scars, Contractubex® Scar Gel should be massaged into the scar tissue several times a day. An overnight ointment bandage can also be helpful. Depending on the size, age and thickness of the scar, regular application over several weeks to months is recommended.

Contractubex® scar gel should not be stored above 25 degrees and should be used within six months. An alternative to Contractubex® Scar Gel is the Contractubex® Intensive Patch. These are thin patches that can easily be cut to size or glued on top of each other depending on the size of the scar and are applied overnight.

Contractubex® Intensive Patches support the body’s natural regeneration process and also help soften and reduce old, hardened scars, as well as smoothing and reducing keloids. To achieve a good result, the patches should be worn regularly for at least 6 hours and for a maximum of 12 hours. It is recommended to apply a new Intensive Patch every day for at least 3 months on a regular basis.

When applying all Contractubex® products, it is important to ensure that the wounds are completely closed and to clean and dry them thoroughly before use. So far, no risks for pregnant women or nursing mothers are known. However, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, a doctor should be consulted before taking Contractubex®. Contractubex® should not be used in children under three years of age.

Side effects

The most common side effects are local skin irritations, in the form of redness or itchy wheals. Rare are allergic reactions, a possible darkening of the skin in the area of application or atrophy of the skin. During the application of Contractubex® it may also occur a passagere itching. However, this is most likely related to the remodelling processes in the skin and should not be a reason to discontinue therapy.

Interactions

So far, no interactions with other drugs are known. However, as a precautionary measure, the use of Contractubex® should be discussed with a doctor.
