- Pregnancy: Although there is no study of gabapentin in pregnancy, the use of other antiepileptic drugs has been shown to increase the risk of birth defects in the unborn child.
Pregnant women should therefore expressly not take any gabapetine products. It should also be mentioned that women of childbearing age must use contraception if they are taking gabapentin. If you are concerned that you are pregnant, contact your doctor. We advise against sudden discontinuation of use, as the reduced level of the active ingredient can cause seizures.
- Breastfeeding: Gabapentin may pass into breast milk and so breastfeeding should not be done if an anti-epileptic drug is taken at the same time.
Side effects
