Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of acute rhinitis (rhinitis).

Family history

  • What is the current health status of your relatives?

Social history

  • What is your profession?

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • How long has the rhinitis been present?
  • Do you suffer from a stuffy nose?
  • What are the additional symptoms?
    • Difficulty breathing
    • Deterioration of olfactory and gustatory perception
    • General feeling of illness
    • Head pressure
    • Irritative cough
    • Eye tears

Vegetative anamnesis including nutritional anamnesis.

  • Do you get enough exercise every day?
  • Do you smoke? If so, how many cigarettes, cigars or pipes per day?

Self history including medication history.

  • Pre-existing conditions (allergies, ENT disorders, immunosuppression).
  • Operations
  • Allergies
  • Environmental history (chemical or physical noxae).
