- Polyarthritis rheumatica – inflammatory rheumatic disease that occurs suddenly with a general feeling of illness, shoulder and pelvic girdle pain and signs of inflammation; onset over the age of 50.

Purely joint-related causes of dysfunction are rather rare, usually the complex picture of CMD results from a variety of influencing factors.
