Delayed Puberty (Pubertas Tarda): Test and Diagnosis

2nd order laboratory parameters – depending on the results of the medical history, physical examination, etc. – for differential diagnostic clarification

  • Hormone diagnostics
    • Stage I
      • LH
      • FSH
      • 17-beta estradiol (girls)
      • Testosterone (boys)
      • TSH
      • STH (somatotropic hormone (STH), somatotropin, growth hormone).
      • Inhibin B
    • Stage II
      • GnRH test – when serum gonadotropins (LH/FSH) are low.
      • GHRH test – in the case of low STH to distinguish between a secretion disorder (“secretion disorder”) in the hypothalamus (part of the diencephalon) and a failure of the pituitary gland (pituitary gland).
  • Small blood count
  • Differential blood count
  • Inflammatory parameters – CRP (C-reactive protein) or ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate).
  • Urine status (rapid test for: pH, leukocytes, nitrite, protein, glucose, ketone, urobilinogen, bilirubin, blood), sediment.
  • Electrolytescalcium, chloride, potassium, magnesium, sodium, phosphate.
  • Renal parameters – urea, creatinine.
  • Chromosomal analysis, additional molecular genetic testing if necessary.
