Diagnosis
The diagnosis inguinal mycosis can be confirmed by a smear of the affected region and subsequent cultivation of the fungi on special plates. The diagnosis of erythrasma is made with the help of the so-called Wood light. The affected areas with their scales appear bright red under the light. Folliculitis or carbuncle is always a visual diagnosis and does not require further diagnosis.
Frequency distribution
The inguinal mycosis (Tinea inguinalis) typically occurs more in men than in women. An infection with the corynebacterium, which leads to the clinical picture of erythrasma, is chronic, especially in males. More often, an infection of the skin occurs especially in obese patients, as they often sweat more in the area of the skin folds.
The therapy for an inflammation of the groin
The therapy of Intertrigo consists mainly of drying out the affected skin folds and keeping them dry. To do this, so-called gauze strips can be placed in the wrinkles to absorb the moisture. Additionally, the affected areas can be coated with a zinc paste to dry them out.
The groin fungus is mainly treated with so-called anti-fungal drugs (antimycotics). In most cases a local therapy with ointments and creams is sufficient. Erythrasma can be treated with antibiotic creams.
Miconazole and fusidic acid creams are mainly used to treat the affected areas. An important measure would be to pay attention to an increased and more thorough personal hygiene of the affected areas and to dry them especially well after washing. When treating psoriasis, it is important not to wear too tight clothing in the affected areas to avoid irritating the skin there. The affected areas should also be kept as dry as possible and then treated with special creams.
Anti-inflammatory baths with chamomile or calendula are often helpful. Cortisone creams should only be used for a very short period of time to reduce the inflammation. Vitamin D preparations could also help in the treatment of inverse psoriasis.
For psoriasis in the area of the skin folds, a therapy with UV light is also an option. Folliculitis is mainly treated with disinfecting substances. Sometimes an antibiotic local ointment treatment can also be applied.
However, if carbuncles form, it may be necessary to split the boil to empty the pus. In a supportive homeopathic treatment for inguinal inflammation, it is first necessary to find out where the inflammation comes from. If it is an inflammation of the male genitalia, a doctor should be consulted, as this may be an emergency.
Other diseases such as syphilis or urinary tract infections in men should also be examined and treated by a doctor. If it is an inflammation of the muscles and tendons, a homeopathic treatment can be given. Homeopathic remedies such as Bryonia (fence beet) or Rhus toxicodendron (poison ivy) are taken several times a day as globules until the symptoms improve.
