Duration | Rotational vertigo during pregnancy

Duration

The duration of the dizziness symptoms can vary greatly. Typically, recurrent rotational vertigo may occur throughout the entire duration of pregnancy, but it is harmless overall. A vertigo attack should not normally last longer than a few minutes.

Furthermore, there are often significant daily variations in the severity of the symptoms during pregnancy. Between days with significant dizziness, symptom-free days usually occur again and again. With the end of pregnancy, the vertigo often stops abruptly.

Course of disease

The course of the disease is very variable and unpredictable during pregnancy. The strong hormonal fluctuations can permanently cause symptoms to appear suddenly. Normally, there are always symptom-free days between the dizzy spells. For this reason, dizziness that lasts for weeks with accompanying symptoms should be clarified by a doctor.

Can vertigo be a sign of pregnancy?

Rotational vertigo can also be the first sign of pregnancy. In combination with vomiting and nausea, vertigo is even a very common symptom in the first weeks of pregnancy. This is due to the sudden hormonal changes that occur in the first weeks of embryonic development.
