Fango pillow

Fango cushions can be used at home for self-treatment as well as in physiotherapy or spa facilities. They usually consist of a plastic cover, which can contain moor or mud or even kerosene or a gel filling. In physiotherapy facilities the fango cushions are usually heated in a large oven.

Heating in a microwave or water bath is also possible, depending on the manufacturer’s recommendations. The fango cushions can also be heated to approx. 50°C just like the conventional fango packs and keep this temperature constant over a longer period of time.

The application also corresponds to the traditional fango pack. The fango pillow is placed on the treatment area, fixed with straps or cloths as needed and the patient is wrapped up warm. The Fango Pillow should act on the area of the body to be treated for between 20 and 40 minutes to achieve a good effect.

Hot roll

The hot roll is a variant of heat therapy, which is often used in physiotherapy facilities, but can also be performed at home. For a hot roll usually 2 – 3 small towels are rolled up like onion skin, so that a firm roll is created. Then about 1 liter of hot (not boiling) water is poured into the roll from above until the roll is moist except for the outer layers, but does not drip.

The roll is then rolled or dabbed over the area to be treated, for example the shoulder, neck or back. The treatment area may show increasing redness as a sign of the stimulated blood circulation. If the roll becomes too cold from the outside, it is rolled further so that it maintains its initial temperature during the treatment.

The treatment usually takes 10-15 minutes and is a good preparation for a massage. It has a muscle relaxing effect, stimulates the metabolism and promotes blood circulation and can therefore have a soothing effect on neck and back pain, muscle tension, rheumatic complaints and arthrosis. The cost of a hot roll in a physiotherapy facility is about 7€, the personal contribution is 10% of this, i.e. 70 cents per treatment.
