Forecast | If abdominal pain occurs together with back pain, what can it be?

Forecast

The prognosis of abdominal and back pain depends on the underlying disease. In general, abdominal pain has a better prognosis than back pain, as the latter is often caused by age-related wear and tear and poor posture, which has a higher tendency to chronicity. Pain that is infectious or inflammatory in nature usually resolves within a relatively short time with appropriate therapy or on its own.

Prophylaxis

There is no general prophylaxis to avoid stomach and back pain. To prevent back pain, however, sufficient physical exercise is recommended, especially to compensate for predominantly sedentary work at the workplace. By strengthening the muscles, poor posture and tension can be prevented.

In order to prevent slipped discs, it is advisable to work in a way that is gentle on the back. Heavy objects should always be lifted from the legs and not from the back. Abdominal pain cannot always be avoided.

Gastro-intestinal infections are common and affect everyone once. To prevent them, general hygiene measures such as regular hand washing should be observed.
