Hair tonic against psoriasis
Psoriasis is a skin disease that can have various causes. It represents an increased and faster growth of the upper skin layer and can affect other parts of the body besides the scalp. Usually an itchy scalp goes along with it.
Among the remedies that help against psoriasis are salicylic acid, olive oil, urea, lactic acid, but also cortisone and vitamin D preparations. These can be found in various hair tonics specialized in psoriasis. However, the use of cortisone should be treated with caution, as it causes the skin to become thinner and more susceptible to infection.
In some cases, light therapies are also offered for treatment against psoriasis. Here, the hairline is irradiated with UV light. A distinction is made between two types of dandruff.
On the one hand, there are the dry dandruff, which is caused by a dry scalp, and on the other hand, there is oily dandruff, which is found in an oily scalp. If the scalp is dry, dry dandruff usually comes automatically with it. In most cases there is also increased itching and irritation of the scalp.
Remedies such as apple vinegar soothe the itching and increase the moisture content of the scalp. But also remedies such as avocado, beer or olive oil can help in the treatment of dry dandruff. The agents cause the moisture content to increase and usually also provide shiny, well-groomed hair.
What does the hair tonic consist of?
As a rule, the hair tonic consists of a base of an alcoholic solution. Ethanol is usually used for this purpose, but other alcohols can also be part of the hair tonic. Also contents such as sulfur or acids can be part of the hair tonic in highly diluted form.
Depending on the product, the hair tonic contains other additives. These are adapted to the respective desired effects of the hair tonic. Substances such as birch or nettle should stimulate hair growth or reduce hair loss.
But also rosemary can be found in some hair tonic and should help against dry scalp. In the case of products against a flaky scalp, some people even resort to substances such as witch hazel (also known as witch hazel). Cortisone can also be found in some hair tonic.
However, these may be available only on prescription and are said to help against inflammatory processes on the scalp or increased hair loss. Hair tonic can also be produced by yourself. The advantage here is that substances such as alcohol, sulfur or acid, which can lead to hair and scalp intolerances, can be omitted.
The hair tonic can be adapted to the desired hair or scalp problems, but at the same time it represents a low risk. Experiments with different substances mixed together should therefore be absolutely avoided.Hair tonic without alcohol is difficult to preserve and must therefore be used up quickly. Despite its alcohol content, hair tonic is considered a mostly natural remedy for the care and treatment of hair and scalp.
Nettle is often found among the ingredients of hair tonic. The stinging nettle is supposed to work against hair loss. It contains numerous active ingredients, including vitamins, minerals and iron.
These are usually well-tolerated by the scalp and, in addition to reducing hair loss, they also care for the scalp and hair. Furthermore, the application of nettle promotes the blood circulation of the scalp. Tea tree oil in hair tonic serves various purposes.
On the one hand, it is often applied to prevent possible scalp irritations and on the other hand, it is also supposed to stimulate the blood circulation. Tea tree oil is also effective against skin impurities, skin irritation, redness of the scalp, dandruff and hair loss. It has a disinfecting effect on the scalp and can thus kill possible fungi, bacteria and mites that attack the hairline.
It is therefore often used for skin impurities. Menthol or mint oil is often found in hair tonic. It serves to accelerate hair growth and is said to reduce hair loss.
The blood circulation of the scalp is stimulated, so that hair roots are stimulated. This stimulation of the hair roots contributes to increased hair growth by enlarging the hair follicles and growing thicker hair. In addition, menthol cools the scalp and therefore has a calming effect on irritation and redness.
Mint oil is one of the essential oils. Minoxidil is often used in hair lotions against hair loss. By applying a hair tonic containing minoxidil, the blood circulation of the scalp is improved, which makes it easier for the hair follicles to be anchored in the scalp.
Due to the improved blood circulation of the scalp, the hair roots are also better supplied with nutrients, which also leads to a stabilization of the hair roots in the scalp. If the active ingredient Minoxidil is applied to the hair, it also leads to a further process in addition to the improved anchoring of the hair in the scalp. Minoxidil transforms into the active ingredient minoxidil sulfate when applied. Minoxidil sulfate in turn is able to stimulate the new synthesis of hair follicles and thus, in addition to reducing hair loss, also ensures the new formation of hair.
