Homeopathy: Home pharmacy/drug and its effect

In the following, some of the most common homeopathic remedies are presented, which are nowadays found as standard in many home pharmacies. For example, Arnica, Calendula and Ansenicum album globules are often found in natural sports pharmacies. The list of common homeopathic remedies is long, as there really seems to be something for every complaint.

They all follow the principle of homeopathy. They are supposed to cure the complaints by the minimal administration of a substance that causes similar complaints in the body. In this way the healing in the body is stimulated in a very natural way.

  • Arnica is said to help with minor everyday injuries to the musculoskeletal system. Pain and swelling are reduced and the healing of tissue is stimulated.
  • Calendula (marigold) helps with open wounds and poor healing. It reduces inflammatory reactions and promotes healing.
  • Arsenicum album was used as a poison many years ago. Today, homeopathy uses it in highly diluted amounts to calm nerve pain in particular.
  • For colds, belladonna is often found in the everyday pharmacy. This is the poison of belladonna and is effective for classic throat, nose and ear problems.
  • Gelsemium is wild jasmine and is said to help with recurring headaches and fatigue.
  • Abdominal pain and nausea should be treated with substances of nux vomica.
  • Pulsatilla, the meadow pasque flower, is said to help with women’s problems, classic menstrual cramps and hormone fluctuations.
  • Rhus toxicodendron is also frequently found in the home pharmacy and helps with back pain, stiffness but also with the consequences of colds.

Globules

Globules is only the technical term for the word globule. Small globules made of sugar and the extremely diluted active ingredient are the most popular way of administering homeopathic remedies. These mini globules are sold in small bottles that are easy to store, take and carry with you.

The dosage is usually described on the package or is recommended by the alternative practitioner. Usually a few of the pellets must be placed under the tongue until they have dissolved. The sugar makes them taste pleasantly sweet. However, homeopathic remedies also exist in other forms such as creams, tablets and powders.
