Household remedy as laxative

There are different ways in which a remedy can function as a laxative. So there are different types of laxatives: For example, fiber from fruits, grains and vegetables absorb water, causing them to swell. This loosens the stool and stimulates intestinal activity.

Cereal bran and psyllium are also well-known swelling household remedies that have an effect after only a few days.

Osmotic laxatives, on the other hand, ensure that there is more water in the bowel, making the stool more fluid and easier to excrete. Other laxatives stimulate the bowel’s own movement so that the stool is moved more quickly through the bowel to the exit.

This type of laxative is effective after only a few hours. It is also important to mention that movement is an essential point for a regular bowel movement: a lot of sitting (e.g. office work, student, pupil) causes the intestine to become sluggish and the metabolic functions not to function properly. Just 3x 30 minutes of sport per week can lead to a considerable increase in well-being. In addition, a balanced diet with more vegetables and fruit than carbohydrates and meat, as well as sufficient drinking quantity (2-3 liters of water per day) is important.

Further examples

The following additional household remedies have proven their worth many times over and can certainly be preferred to medication in a healthy body:

  • Drink plum juice (unsweetened, untreated and preferably naturally cloudy) or eat soaked dried plums (unsulphurized prunes) and drink the soaking water additionally
  • Eat dried, unsulfurized figs (possibly also soaked beforehand, see above)
  • Eat seedy (! ), unsprayed grapes (at least 350g/day)
  • Eat 1/2 large watermelon/day (Attention! Always eat only on an empty stomach!

  • A mixture of sauerkraut juice, carrot juice and tomato juice
  • Eat 1-2 tablespoons of chia seeds, linseed or flea seeds overnight soaked in water in muesli or pure (make sure you drink a large glass of water with it! )
  • Drinking natural cloudy apple juice
